Marian Friary of "Our Lady, Spouse of the Holy Spirit"

Brief History of the Marian Friary

Mount St. Francis was established in 1973 by a Franciscan Conventual, Fr. Stephen Valenta, of the Province of the Immaculate Conception (USA). With the help of lay volunteers, a convent was erected, a chapel and 13 cottages/hermitages in the site of 150 acres mostly hills and grass that are ideal for contemplative life. The property was sold to our community by the Franciscan Conventuals in January 1998 and a montyh after on February our friars officially took residence in the Marian Friary of Our Lady, "Spouse of the Holy Spirit". From the period on the friary became the formation house of postulants and a place for retreats. The place was officially blessed in August 14, 2006 with the newly constructed friary of 18 cells.
