INDIVIDUAL RETREATS
For those wishing to spend a few days or more on
Mt. St. Francis there are twelve Prayer Shelters linked by dirt roads and trails,
sufficiently distant from each other so as to insure privacy. Each is self-contained with
electricity, a wood burning stove for heat, a microwave and a propane stove for cooking as
well as an outhouse. The Prayer Shelters have sinks and shower stalls with drains but not
running water. Retreatants provide their own food and if possible their own bedding and
are advised to bring a flashlight, boots and an umbrella.
The unique thrust of this apostolate is to foster the
spiritual life of the individual. Retreatants and day visitors are expected to respect
each other's privacy and solitude. Modesty in dress is required.
GROUP RETREATS
Directed, day-long retreats for groups of usually no more
than 30 are available from May to October. Confirmation classes, directed by the Friars,
are available during the month of May.

| Sacraments
and Preaching
Following
the Franciscan tradition the friars in New
Bedford primary apostolate is the
administration of the sacraments
especially the reverent celebration of the
Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and the
Sacrament of Penance. Moreover, they
conduct conferences, symposium, parish
mission, retreats and preaching tasks to
help pastors in the care of souls.
First
Saturday Devotion
The first
Saturday devotion is an initiative to
follow the request of Our Lady at Fatima
to believers in order to pray and do
reparation for the conversion and
sanctification of souls. The day is
constituted with Marian and catechetical
conferences especially directed to
families and youth. A Sacrifice of the
Mass is offered in honor of Mary's
Immaculate Heart and other prayers.
Third
Order of the Immaculate
One of the
main tasks of the community is to assist
spiritually the growing community of the
Third Order of the Immaculate. This
protocommunity in the United States
continue to grow since its official
acceptance of membership in 1991.
